Well… the day before was hectic and I hadn’t had a chance to frequent any hot spots in
The morning of that fateful day was dull. I wasn’t feeling too great but nonetheless was excited at the prospect of visiting famous
From the BITS gate we started of towards south goa :
Having Bist as my co rider our journey started off smoothly. Savoring the majestic beauty along the road we continued towards our destination. The road was good except for too frequent curves. It appeared as if we are riding along a lazy, meandering river full of surprises at all points of journey.
After about 2 ½ hours journey we reached the exit for the Palolem beach. All the bikes gathered there. The helmet I was wearing was too loose. All along the journey it kept on trying to fly off my head. I decided that I had enough of it and gave it to Bist. After all the bikes had gathered we started off for our final leg of the journey. It had to be for some 30 minutes but fate had something else stored for us.
Well this part of the journey is really hard to recall. It all happened in a jiff of a second. There was a curve on the road. I was getting excited at the prospect of getting closer and closer to the beach. All of a sudden I saw two things. The bike in front of us had stopped a little ahead and there was a huge snake trying to cross the road. Now the road wasn’t too broad and the snake was really long. I remember that I took breaks (the infamous disk brakes of Pulsar) and tried to circumvent it. I saw the bike loose balance and my self getting dragged along with the bike. My left elbow, shoulder and leg dragged along with bike, trying to break the speed (which wasn’t too high). The bike finally stopped and laid on top me. I got up any how trying to be away from the deadly viper. I couldn’t see where has it gone. With friends and locals gathering around us I felt safe. There weren’t ny serious injury (it seemed so at that point) other than few aberrations. I was on my foot and was relieved at getting away so lightly. I had a real nasty blow on my left elbow so I tried to look for the symptoms of fracture. There weren’t any. Suddenly one of my friends asked me whether I escaped the snake or not. Well as I didn’t see where the snake went after the accident and there were far too many cuts on my legs to look for the snake bite, nothing seemed certain. All of a sudden I started feeling dizzy and nauseated. Everything went blank before my eyes. My hearing senses and vision started getting blurred and dull. A sudden surge of panic struck me. I felt my knees go loose and told my friends how bad I was feeling. They also panicked. At that moment before loosing out completely I thought that I am going to die. If the snake had really bitten me (as the symptoms suggested) there was really nothing which could have been done. I thought of maa and my friends and then dropped. The locals gave me a soda and some water. I regained my senses soon but was still feeling a bit dizzy. Getting back to senses brought a huge relief to me. I felt as if I got a new birth. We went to a hospital for medical aid. There wasn’t any X-Ray facility there so I was given first aid and was bandaged.
We continued our journey although this time I wasn’t on the drivers seat . So we reached the beach. As I couldn’t go to the water coz of my cuts I spent ma time strolling along the sea shore. We also climbed the rocks and over the rocks lay the amazing view of the
